How does it work?
During treatment, a fine sterile probe is inserted directly alongside or into the tiny blood vessel, and a gentle electrical current is applied for just a second or two at each point along its length. This current heats the vessel wall, causing it to coagulate and collapse in on itself - effectively sealing it shut so blood can no longer flow through it. The body then treats the closed-off vessel as waste, gradually breaking it down and reabsorbing it over the following weeks, which is why the blemish tends to fade progressively rather than disappearing the instant treatment ends.

When will I see results & how long does it last?
Results from advanced electrolysis appear gradually rather than overnight - most clients notice the treated vessel beginning to fade within a few days to a couple of weeks, as the body reabsorbs the sealed-off blood vessel, with full results typically visible within four to six weeks. Because the treated vessel is permanently closed off, the results are long-lasting, and that particular blemish won't return. That said, the treatment doesn't prevent new thread veins or vascular blemishes forming elsewhere over time, so the occasional top-up session may be recommended to keep skin looking consistently clear.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Before your advanced electrolysis appointment, a little preparation helps ensure the best results and a comfortable experience:

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds on the treatment area for at least two weeks beforehand, as sun-sensitised skin is more prone to irritation and pigmentation changes.

Where possible, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil or vitamin E) in the days before treatment, as these can increase bruising - never stop a prescribed medication without checking with your GP first.

Steer clear of retinoids, exfoliating acids or harsh skincare products on the area for a few days prior, as these can leave skin more sensitive.

Arrive with clean skin, free from make-up, lotion or sunscreen on the area to be treated.

Try to limit caffeine and alcohol on the day of your appointment, as both can increase blood flow and sensitivity.

THE TREATMENT ITSELF
At your appointment, I will first cleanse the area and take a close look at the vein or blemish to plan the best approach. A fine, sterile probe is then carefully applied to the vessel, delivering a brief electrical current at each point along its length - this is usually felt as a mild warming or tingling sensation rather than pain.
Treatment time depends on the size and number of blemishes, but most sessions are quick, often taking only a few minutes to half an hour, and you're free to carry on with your day straight afterwards.
Aftercare
After treatment, it's normal to see some mild redness, and a tiny scab may form over the treated area as it heals - this should be left alone and never picked, as it will naturally flake away within a week or two.
It's important to keep the area clean and protected with a high-factor SPF, avoiding direct sun exposure, sunbeds, saunas, and hot baths or intense exercise for a few days while the skin settles. Avoiding make-up on the area for 24 hours and following any specific guidance from your practitioner will help the results heal cleanly and last as long as possible.
